PANJIM: Both the Vishnu Wagh and Subhash Phaldesai assaults are stories made up by former Minister Nilkant Harlankar, alleged Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar, who is already in the dock for the both alleged assaults.
He went on to add that the Vishnu assault was what he called, a “frame attack” (frame up).
A FIR has been registered in the Mapusa police station after Wagh complained that his vehicle was damaged and he was assaulted by some persons (he has named some) who according to him were supporters of Kandolkar.
There were also allegations made by opposition parties that Kandolkar had assaulted Phaldesai at Goa Niwas Delhi more recently.
On the Wagh issue, Kandolkar expressed his doubt that it was actually an assault, but qualified his statement by saying that if it happened then it was done by Nilkant’s people themselves.”
Giving his logic about the incident he said that Nilkant had put Wagh in a spot, alleging:
“He was scared that Vishnu might be given the NCP north Goa ticket. So he thought he could shift him to the side,” he said adding that Wagh was popular but “who knows Nilkant.”
Kandolkar also alleged that he was being targeted by Nilkant because he had done development in the constituency while Nilkant who had become a minister had done nothing except two half complete projects.
On the Phaldesai incident Kandolkar said that the two did not meet in Delhi at all, and the NCP president had made this a drama.
When asked about the T shirt that was being branded about by the opposition parties, he said that he had seen it on Facebook and it looked to him like a ladies T shirt.
He also asked that on that day it was 5 degrees in Delhi and how could anybody be roaming around in a T shirt.
He however, appreciated Pratapsingh Rane for his statement even as he challenged that “if anybody has the CCTV footage, then show it please.”
