MAYEM: Claiming that Mayem village had finally been liberated almost 52 years after Goa’s liberation, Deputy Speaker Anant Shet has congratulated Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and all the components for passing a special ordinance in the assembly session.
“This is a historical moment where the chief minister has passed a special ordinance for the liberation of Mayem village from the custodian of evacuee property at Mayem,” said Shet, while addressing a news conference in Mayem.
“The chief minister has made a provision of about Rs 20 crore to sort out all issues pertaining to the Custodian of Evacuee Property, in order to give justice to the people,” said Shet.
“Parrikar has also taken due care to ensure that nobody from Mayem village will face difficulties in future after the introduction of a new law, as it will abolish the existing title of Mayem village thereby handing over the land into their custody in a legal manner.”
Shet also lauded the efforts of all ministers in the cabinet and MLAs for successfully resolving the issue and also commended the members of Mayem Bhuvimochan Nagarik Kruti Samiti and residents of Mayem for their prolonged struggle in the matter.
Mayem Sarpanch Veena Chodankar, BJP Block President Shankar Chodankar, Dayanand Karbotkar, Anand Ghatwal and Gurudas Kerikar were also present at the news conference.
