The suspect has not given anything away, including the password of his personal laptop, which was seized by the ATS.
“He appears to be ‘hardcore’. For the entire day I didn’t have anything to update. We cannot use third degree method to make him spill something,” said IGP Sunil Garg.
Garg has informed that the five passports that were seized from the suspect would be verified through the Passport Authority of India (PAI). He added, “We have already written to the PAI for the verification of the suspect who is in our custody.”
Garg has also confirmed that the Intelligence Bureau of the Union Home Ministry interrogated the suspect on Wednesday. Besides the IB, ATS chief Priyanka Kashyap (IPS) and ATS Police Inspector Nilesh Rane have interrogated the suspect.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Vasco, on Tuesday, remanded the accused in police custody for seven days, and on Wednesday, he was lodged in the ATS lock-up in Ribandar.
The suspect, Sameer Sardana (47), hailing from Dehradun, was picked up by Railway Police on Sunday after railway authorities grew suspicious of his frequent visits to the rest room of Vasco railway station.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, after meeting the Union Home Minister on Tuesday, told reporters in Panjim on Wednesday that Ministry has recommended classified security measures for Goa and that the same would be adopted by the State.
However, IGP Garg has said that no such recommendations have come to State police from Union Home Ministry so far.
