Attack on RTI activist: One remanded

VASCO: The JMFC Vasco on Monday remanded one alleged accused Ram Gopal Yadav alias Kariya, arrested by Verna Police in RTI activist Narayan Datta Naik assault case, to three days police custody.

Surprisingly, this case has been handed over to the Crime Branch.

In a surprising development in an assault case of Naik, which took place on Saturday outside the Sancoale Panchayat, the JMFC Vasco issued three days police custody to Yadav for his alleged involvement in giving contract to harm RTI activist Naik, informed South Goa Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh.

Further, SP Pankaj Kumar said multiple teams of police are investigating this case and are trying to trace two hooded persons, who were involved in attacking RTI activist Naik. 

When questioned whether police have recorded the statements of the Sancoale Panchayat staff, SP Pankaj Kumar gave affirmative answer but declined to reveal further information due to the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, information from the reliable sources revealed that Verna Police have recorded statements of Sancoale Panchayat staff and several other people to verify the facts and find out the mystery behind this attack.
