CALANGUTE: Calangute Comunidade foiled yet another attempt to fill low-lying areas and paddy fields in Calangute. The Calangute Comunidade team led by its President Agostinho Proenca, Attorney Suhas Naik and Registrar Ramesh Taluskar stopped a contractor from dumping mud in the open paddy fields at Agar Vaddo, Calangute.
The comunidade officials later called the Calangute police to detain the driver and attach the trucks of the contractor for filling the low-lying areas. A complaint was also lodged by Attorney Suhas Naik with Calangute police.
Speaking to Herald, Agostinho Proenca said they noticed some persons filling the paddy fields by dumping mud with trucks and tanker. “We called Calangute police to detain the driver and seize the trucks. The contractor has been filling mud without any permission in the paddy fields belonging to Calangute Comunidade,” he said.
