PANJIM: An attempt to unload the truck full of garbage on the side of the road at Cumbharjua near the ferry terminal failed due to alert locals on Sunday.

Cumbharjua resident and Goa Youth Congress’ North Goa president Rinaldo Rosario noticed a truck dumping garbage near the ferry terminal when he was passing by. He confronted the driver and three other persons who were unloading the truck. The driver did not have a driving license and failed to respond to the questions raised. The driver and others were then made to put back the garbage in the truck.
“CM Sawant talks about waste management and Swacch Bharat but there is no dumping ground or proper system to separate the waste,” said Rosario.
Local panch Anuj Naik assured to install four CCTV cameras in the region. “We asked the people to take back the garbage so next time they will think twice before doing such uncultured things,” said panch.
