PERNEM: Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar and Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, accompanied by Pernem Mamlatdar Anant Malik and WRD officials, recently visited Kadshi-Mopa to assess the situation of a submerged footbridge. The footbridge’s submergence has resulted in the disconnection of around 10 families from the main Mopa village for the last 10 to 12 days. The visit aimed to understand the challenges faced by the affected families due to the disrupted connectivity.
The locals have been severely impacted by the situation, with power outages, disrupted network connectivity, and school and college-going students unable to attend classes for the past 10 days. The recurring nature of this issue every year has prompted the affected families to take precautions, such as stocking up on household items and groceries in advance for their survival. However, during emergencies, they face difficulties as no emergency services can reach them.

Sarpanch of Mopa-Tamboxem-Ugvem, Subodh Mahale, expressed concern about the longstanding problem faced by the residents in the area. The existing footbridge gets submerged leaving people on the other side disconnected from the main village.
