MARGAO: Sports Minister Manohar (Babu) Azgaonkar inaugurated the Davorlim Panchayat Community Centre, football ground and changing room facility. Azgaonkar, Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, Sarpanch of Davorlim Dicarpale Bina Kulkarni, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs V M Prabhudessai and several other dignitaries were present at the function. Minister Azgaonkar said “There are at least 200 grounds in Goa looked after by the Government with good facilities for promotion of sports. But sadly sportsmen are not taking enough interest to improve their capabilities and be good players” he said. “To get satisfaction of the infrastructure the people and the clubs have to put all efforts to make players for the state. Football is in our blood but football players are not being produced.” Babu added. “We are ready to provide a lawn for a playground if the Panchayat takes care of it, ” the Sports Minister promised.
MLA of Navelim Luizinho Faleiro said that this was the dream of Davorlimkaars and to make the village the best of all and several have made sacrifices for the same. “I thank all those people for their contribution” said Luizinho.
