Babush names panel for CCP elections
55% new faces including 14 eves

Education Minister Babush Monseratte today announced his 30-member panel for the Corporation of the City of Panaji polls with 55 per cent new faces.
The polls will be held in March 2011.
Interestingly, the panel includes 14 women candidates.
Despite Monseratte’s claims that tainted persons will not be included in the panel, persons like Uday Madkaikar and Naguesh Kareshetty who have been allegedly involved in scams have found a place in the panel.
Those given the boot were controversial counsellor Daya Karapurkar, who was allegedly involved in many scandals in the CCP apart from Avinash Bhonsle, Melita Afonso, Anthony Pereira, Uma Naik, Susheela Naik and Oldwin Soares.
Mayor Carolina Po, Deputy Mayor Yatin Parekh, former Mayor Tony Rodrigues have been retained in the panel.
