Vasco: Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Friday informed that the Baina Lake cleaning and drying work will be tendered by next one week’s time and will be dried up for further procedure for introduction of aquaculture.
Speaking to this daily, Vasco MLA Almeida said, “This is the first ever pilot project of aquaculture which has not yet been done in State but in Vasco through the Water Resource Department.”
He said that the lake needs to be dried up for the purpose of aquaculture. But due to lockdown amidst the COVID-19 pandemic we had to wait for some days. In next one week’s time the work will be tendered and the lake will be dried up first for introducing the aquaculture and only then we will be able to introduce fresh fish inside the lake.
It may be recalled that around mid February WRD Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues in presence of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and Vasco MLA had inspected the progress of the work at Baina Lake for the introduction of Aquaculture pilot project. If it turns out to be successful then Water Resource Department would be interested to implement the same pilot project in various State constituencies, WRD Minister had said at that time.
