VASCO: Power, Information and Publicity Department Minister Milind Naik on Monday inspected the Ravindra Bhavan at Baina ahead of its inauguration on December 12.
Naik along with GSIDC Director Sanjit Rodrigues, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer Y B Tavde, MMC Chairperson Sunita Usgaonkar, Mormugao Deputy Collector Gaurish Shankwalkar and officials of Art and Culture Department inspected the main 815 seats auditorium and pointed out some anomalies and directed the contractor to rectify the same before the inauguration.
Later, Naik visited other sections of the Bhavan and expressed satisfaction with the work completed and urged Rodrigues to complete all the formalities before the inauguration.
However, Naik showed displeasure as the contractor is yet to clear all the mess inside the auditorium and directed them to finish al the remaining work.
Speaking to Herald, Naik said as the inauguration is on December 12, he inspected the Ravindra Bhavan to check that everything is in order. “Other minor works which are pending will be completed in due course,” he said.
“GSIDC has completed whatever list we had submitted regarding completion of the Ravindra Bhavan and only cleaning of the premises, which is pending, will be completed in next few days,” stated Naik.
Naik informed that there will be a week-long programme at Ravindra Bhavan from December 12, which will include cultural programme, Hindi, Konkani and Marathi dramas and other entertainment programmes and it will be free for the citizens of Mormugao Taluka.
“As far as job opportunities are concerned, the Art and Culture department will look into the matter,” said Naik and assured that locals will be given preference depending on their ability.
GSIDC Director Rodrigues said people will be selected based on merits and technical know-how, as they will have to deal with various technical equipment right from acoustic to lighting, and other electronic items. “Appointments will be done by the Art and Culture department,” he added.
