Balrath Employees calls off their strike

Panjim: United Balrath employees union on Wednesday afternoon
decided to withdraw strike after meeting Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and
got an assurance of better salaries and perks. Now the employees have been given
a salary of Rs 10,000/- for attendants and Rs 17,000/- for drivers.

Speaking to media, union leader Swati Kerkar said that they have
called off their strike and the employees will join back their duties on
Thursday 20th July (tomorrow)

The All Goa United Balrath Employees were on indefinite strike
since Monday leading to severe hardships to school students. At present the
Government is giving grants to 316 aided institutions in Goa with 409 Balrath
buses.  With effect from June this year,
the Government had increased the salaries of drivers and attendants from Rs
11,000 to Rs 12,000 & Rs 5,500 to Rs 6,000 respectively for 11 months, with
5 percent annual increase.
