Bandh total success, boasts BJP

The BJP has claimed that today’s bandh was “total success” as people in Goa voluntarily participated in it revealing their deep discontent towards the Congress-led government for increasing oil prices.
Addressing a press conference in the presence of senior BJP leaders today evening, State President, Laxmikant Parsekar, said it was 100 per cent bandh as shops, commercial establishments, schools, colleges remained closed and vehicular traffic was totally brought to a halt.
He claimed bus owners association, auto rickshaw associations, motorcycle pilot associations, taxi owners associations, petrol pump owners and others supported today’s bandh and thanked all for their support.
North Goa MP, Shripad Naik as well as Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar said voluntary participation of people in this bandh indicated that people are not happy with government.
Parrikar said “no force was used” and people spontaneously participated in the bandh reflecting their frustration towards rise in the prices. He also reiterated that the State government should reduce the burden of common by bringing down its revenue intake on VAT.
