The villagers of Undir in Bandora have been agitating, since last year, against plans to build a sewerage treatment plant in residential area at Undir. The people fear that pollution from the plant would affect their health. The gram sabha has also passed several resolutions against setting up a sewerage treatment plant in residential area at Undir.
Accordingly, the panchayat had sent a letter to SIDCGL asking the agency to stop work of road digging for laying sewerage lines and constructing septic tanks.
However, since the SIDCGL failed stop work, the gram sabha passed a resolution asking the agency to stop the ongoing work of laying sewerage lines until a new place is found for locating the plant.
