Banks not implementing OTSS properly: truckers

PONDA: Mining-affected truck owners have alleged that Goa State Cooperative Bank (GSCB) and other co-op banks and societies were not implementing the government’s One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) properly.

They gave the government and Cooperative Registrar four days to resolve the matter, failing which they will hold a morcha to the Assembly complex.
The North Goa Truck Owners Association (NGTOA) addressed a press conference on Monday in this regard. Members Sandeep Parab, Namdev Parab and Sameer Dessai informed that Goa State Cooperative Bank was harassing them by not implementing the OTS properly and threatening to recover the full loan amount. Letters were even issued to their sureties, who were also frustrated with the situation. They said, “The bank has not mentioned the period for which they have waived interest and also not cleared the amount on which we will receive 35 percent subsidy from the government.”
As per the OTS, banks will waive off 100 per cent of the interest on loans taken by the truck owners.
