QUEPEM: Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar has called upon the State government officials including frontline workers to be prepared to combat third wave of COVID.

Kavlekar held a special meeting with several government officials including the Deputy Collectors from Quepem, Sanguem, Dharbandora and Canacona talukas along with PMC health officials and frontline workers to review the COVID situation.
“The COVID-19 situation in the State has raised many questions such as is the State prepared for third wave with regards to medical facilities, accommodation in COVID Care Centres, Primary Health Centres, ambulances, oxygen cylinders and other important equipment, he asked.
“We should be prepared for the third wave by making all the above facilities available to prevent further damage to the State. We have lost our near and dear ones to COVID. To tackle the third wave we should hold awareness programme with the help of local authorities such as panchayats and municipalities. The government is carrying out COVID vaccination through Tika Utsav and the markets too have been sanitised.”
Kavlekar sought information from deputy collectors and health officers on the lack of facilities if any in their jurisdiction.
Quepem Deputy Collector Nilesh Dhaigodkar said, “There are three Primary Health Centres in Quepem, Curchorem and Balli. The Tika Utsav is underway in Quepem taluka besides there is a COVID Care Centre in the Quepem Government College and through panchayat and municipality we are holding awareness programmes.”
Sanguem Deputy Collector Sagar Gawade, Canacona Deputy Collector Uday Prabhudesai and Dharbandora Deputy Collector Kedar Naik also spoke on the occaison.
