Benaulim MLA still hopes NCP to have pre-poll alliance

MARGAO: Benaulim NCP MLA Churchill Alemao is still hopeful that an alliance with the like-minded parties would be happening in the coming days, and the decision by both the party leaders will be declared very soon. 

Speaking to the media persons he also said that talks with regard to an alliance for the upcoming elections are still in progress. 

“I am of the opinion of an alliance. There is a need for an alliance for the next assembly elections which are very near,” said Churchill. 

Reportedly, Benaulim MLA had asked his party leaders to decide on ties with Congress party by October end, which ended long back. However, he is still waiting for the decision. 

He had even declared that his daughter Valanka Alemao will contest from Navelim irrespective of an alliance. 

Churchill had taken the decision not to quit the NCP and to stand by the party but at the same time he also wants NCP to field more than 20 candidates if the Congress is ready for an alliance. 

On the other hand Benaulim MLA has already started his election campaigning in the Benaulim constituency by having corner meetings. However, Congress party is yet to activate their aspirant candidates in Benaulim constituency.
