Members of the Benaulim Village Panchayat along with local residents allegedly caught a person dumping garbage by the roadside at Tolleband on Wednesday.
According to locals, waste dumped in the area often gets washed into nearby water bodies during the monsoon, leading to pollution and raising serious health concerns for residents.

Panchayat member Ezlina Fernandes said one side of the road has gradually been filled with mixed garbage over time, causing inconvenience to commuters and people residing nearby.
Residents expressed concern over the growing problem of illegal dumping, stating that the accumulation of waste has affected the cleanliness and environment of the locality.
Panchayat members warned that strict action would be taken against individuals involved in roadside garbage dumping. The panchayat has decided to impose a fine on the person allegedly caught dumping the waste and has also directed the individual to clean the entire affected area.
Locals have appealed to authorities to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and implement stricter measures to curb illegal garbage disposal in the future.
