To protest against the department’s lethargic attitude, the villagers, under the leadership of Betul Sarpanch Krishna Sawant, held a morcha and submitted a memorandum to the department demanding restoration of electricity within 24 hours, failing which they would take to the streets.
The villagers alleged that many electricity lines were old, while some were damaged by branches. They also had other electricity-related complaints, which AE Pramod Naik promised to solve in two days.
The villagers also pointed that during the summer, even though there were power shutdowns, the personnel of the electricity department did not do much as is evident now.
