BICHOLIM: The beautification work of three kilometres road from Vhalshim to Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk, Bicholim was inaugurated by Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, recently.
The programme was also attended by Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Rajaram Gaonkar, Deputy Chairperson Kundan Falari, Councillors Vijaykumar Natekar, Ajit Birje, Tanuja Gaonkar, Chaitanya Teli, Sudan Govekar Gurudatt Pal and Rama Naik, Chief Officer Vivek Naik, Engineer Hussain Muzawar, Tarikh Thomas and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnekar informed that through this beautification, besides road widening and electrification, people will also get the three-kilometre walking track from Vhalshim to Bicholim, the work of which will be completed by BMC at the cost of Rs 5 crore through government funds.
BMC Chairperson Gaonkar said, “This project was finalised by former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar. Councillor Natekar informed that seven people were killed on this stretch, who had gone for walk. “This walking track will be helpful to save lives of people,” he added.
