BICHOLIM: Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit convened a special meeting with the WRD officials and mines managers of mining companies in Bicholim taluka to review the arrangements of pumping of water from the mining pits.
The mamlatdar directed the WRD officials to commence with the pumping of water from the mining pits and instructed the managers of mining companies to assist the WRD officials to prevent overflowing of mining pits during the forthcoming monsoon.
WRD AE K P Naik informed the mamlatdar that they have commenced with pumping of water from most mining pits and situation is monitored round-the-clock and preventive measures have been undertaken to prevent overflowing of mining pits during the monsoons.
The officials of mining companies further informed that they are rendering necessary assistance to the WRD officials to pump out water from the mining pits.
The mamlatdar directed the WRD officials to coordinate with the officials of Tillari irrigation dam in Maharashtra to prevent the occurrence of a flood-like situation in Sal and its adjoining villages.
Naik said that they are coordinating with the officials of Tillari irrigation dam to prevent the occurrence of floods during the monsoon.
The mamlatdar directed the mining companies to comply with the guidelines issued by Directorate of Mines and Geology while transporting iron ore which is e-auctioned and comply with safety norms strictly.
The mamlatdar informed the WRD officials that a joint inspection will be conducted within a fortnight along with officials of Directorate of Mines to conduct the safety audit of mining pits.
