Bicholim Robbery: 74-Year-Old Canara Bank Pigmy Collector Looted of ₹43,090 Near Kareshwar Temple; One Accused Arrested

A 74-year-old pigmy collector of Canara Bank was robbed of ₹43,090 near Kareshwar Temple in Bicholim, triggering swift action by alert locals and the police. One of the accused, identified as Amit Gujjar (20), was chased by residents, apprehended with police assistance, and subsequently arrested.

According to police sources, the incident occurred when the elderly bank employee was carrying the collected cash as part of his routine duties. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly targeted him near the temple area and fled with the money.

However, the accused’s escape was short-lived as local residents immediately gave chase and alerted the police. With their assistance, Amit Gujjar was successfully nabbed, and the entire stolen amount of ₹43,090 was recovered.
