PANJIM: The State government has reconstituted the Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB) with the Environment Minister as its chairman. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar also holds the environment portfolio. The 11-member board has been reconstituted as per the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
While Pradip Sarmokadam has been appointed as member secretary, environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar, green expert Parag Rangnekar, green activist Nirmal Kulkarni and Dr Chandrashekhar Rivonkar are expert members on the Board.
The other members of the Board include Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Chief Engineer WRD, Director Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry. The term of the new Board will be three years.
