The Opposition BJP on Friday finalised its strategy to corner the government on the floor of the House during the week-long Budget session beginning Monday.
Among the various issues the BJP plans to raise include police-drug mafia nexus, price rise, corruption, illegal diversion of forest land, etc, Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar said at a press conference on Friday.
Twenty more cops – While reacting to arrest of five police men for their alleged links with drug dealers, Parrikar said more than twenty cops are actually involved however he declined to reveal more info.
Recent seizure of drugs and arrest of police men have proved that Home Minister Ravi Naik was wrong who had gone on record that there are no drugs in Goa, pointed out Parrikar.
Investigation by CBI – The Leader of the Opposition also informed that they will demand investigation of suspended cops be conducted through CBI. There are Supreme Court judgements that necessitates when cops are involved in the crime, it has to be conducted through appropriate agency, he said.
He also charged that Crime branch is not fit to conduct investigation in this case because its record is not impressive, rate of conviction of its cases is also low 10 per cent. Issues for Assembly Sessions – Issues such as price rise, corruption, illegal diversion of forest land are some of the issues that will be taken up in the coming session of the assembly, said Parrikar.
