PANJIM: The BJP has lodged five complaints before the Election Commission against the Congress party, its South and North Goa Candidates and its unit president.
Signed by spokesman Dr Wilfred Misquita, the complaints have asked for action against leaders Subash Shirodkar, John Fernandes, Reginaldo Lourenco. It also wants the advertisement cost of advertisements by a certain ‘Secular hawks of Indian Democracy, South Goa division, to be added to the poll expenditure of the South Goa Congress candidate.
In its complaint against the Congress party for screening a video recording which is allegedly “very provocative and emotive,” the BJP has called it a gross violation of the model code of conduct and demanded an immediate stop on the screening of this video recording, disqualification of the South Goa candidate, arrest of the producer of the CD/president of the GPCC for producing this provocative and malicious video; an FIR to be filed by Election Commission against the Congress president and Lourenco and against the producer of this video.
The complaint against Fernandes, Subash Shirodkar and Ravi Naik are for violation of code of conduct with regard to statements made by them.
The complaint pointing to a statement made by Shirodkar says that minorities will be victimised if Modi becomes prime minister, could incite tension at places and also cause law and order problems.
