BJP govt did not fulfill even 5% of promises: Mickky

MARGAO: Goa Vikas Party (GVP) supremo Mickky Pacheco has slammed the BJP government for “failing to fulfill even five percent of the promises” on its 2012 election manifesto.

He also alleged that the government had taken U-turns on every issue it had promised to solve before the last election.
“In a recent U-turn, the BJP government decided to allow off-shore casinos to stay in the River Mandovi, which was quite expected. The casino industry can’t be bothered by the BJP during election year as the BJP is funded by them,” said Pacheco.
Pacheco, whose party was an alliance partner of BJP, has stated that he is no more with the government because of its anti-people policies. He said, “The BJP is not the government of the common people. It has betrayed the trust of the voters. The promises made in the 2012 election manifesto were disrespected and overlooked.”
Recalling the BJP’s claim that it had fulfilled 85 percent of its manifesto promises within four years in power, he stated, “In reality, they have not fulfilled even five percent of the promises.”
Pacheco stated that State government had not been able to find a solution to the medium of instruction controversy, it had failed to shift the off-shore casino vessels away from the River Mandovi, it has created rift amongst people over the Mopa airport, and the mining industry was still in doldrums.
“My party will continue to keep a safe distance from the BJP, which is increasingly losing the support of the voters,” he said.
