BJP hints at Oppn’s close connection with Jhaveri

Demands tracking of Jhaveri’s call details and separate inquiry by ED to expose the truth; Shows photographs of GFP chief & Porvorim MLA with the disgraced B’wood actor

PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa has hinted at Opposition’s close connection with the disgraced Bollywood actor Kapil Jhaveri, who was amongst several arrested for possessing drugs and organising rave party at Vagator.

The BJP and Opposition leaders have come at loggerheads alleging each other’s links to the case.

“Goa government has given a free hand to the police to crackdown on anyone involved in the case. Be it any present or former minister or MLA, police should act tough on them,” party spokesperson Dattaprasad Naik said addressing a press conference.

Naik demanded tracking of Jhaveri’s call details as well as a separate inquiry by Enforcement Directorate to expose the truth.

“We demand that ED also conducts a proper enquiry into the flow of funds at such parties.  Investigators should also probe call records of Jhaveri. These details should be kept in public domain. It will expose which politician has been in constant touch with the disgraced actor,” he stated as he showed photographs of Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte with Jhaveri.

The ruling party has accused the Opposition including Congress of running false propaganda against the BJP by flashing photographs of some BJP leaders with Jhaveri.

Jhaveri is among four persons arrested for possessing drugs worth Rs 9 lakh while 19 others were arrested for attending the rave party, which was busted by Crime Branch at Vagator on the intervening night of August 15-16.

On Tuesday evening, co-promoter of Sunburn events in Goa Shailesh Shetty was arrested for abetting the crime. He has also been charged for attending the rave party, which was co-hosted by him along with Jhaveri.
