PANJIM: The rallying together of some ruling, opposition and independent MLAs is a clear indication of the formation of a third political alternative in Goa, Independent Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said on Friday.
“MLAs from the ruling camp are hob-nobbing with opposition and independents, giving a clear sign that they are not happy with their government,” Khaunte said, who is one of the MLAs attempting to form the third political front in the State.
Speculation over the formation of a third front has grown in recent weeks, with a few BJP and Congress MLAs joining hands with independent legislators.
The Porvorim legislator said that he, along with a few legislative colleagues (independent MLAs Vijay Sardesai and Naresh Sawal, BJP’s Michael Lobo and Vishnu Wagh and Congress’ Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco) are looking for new faces in each of the 40 constituencies.
“If we get new faces and people join this group in large number then the third front will automatically get formed,” he said.
While Khaunte had extended his support to the then Manohar Parrikar-led government, he is not so keen on continuing support to the current Laxmikant Parsekar government.
On the other hand Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal and Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai have always been with the opposition. The legislators feel that a third alternative is a pressing need.
as successive governments led by the Congress and BJP, in coalition with MGP, have failed to fulfill people’s aspirations.
