PONDA: Kicking off the election campaign of BJP-MGP alliance at a meeting at Tiska-Ponda, Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar expressed confidence that people of the State would support the alliance for the betterment of Goa.
. “It’s sad that in Congress, it was not only family business, but also of extended family. Congress has turned out to be a private limited party,” stated Parrikar.
While stating that the Congress leaders have given tickets to members of six families, the BJP leader stated that the Congress was confused who would be chief minister if party is elected to power.
Parrikar clarified that BJP is not against English language, while expressing the need of a child to learn in mother tongue at primary level.
He outlined various goodies that the alliance shall give if it comes to power including Rs 2,000 a month for senior citizens, Rs 1,000 per month for house wife, Rs 1 lakh for girl child, etc, adding that the agenda of the alliance would be made public within next 8 days.
He also promised that the existing Khandepar bridge would be replaced, underground electricity cabling all over the State within 5 years, make the State garbage free within 3 months of coming in power, Lokyukta Bill within 100 days.
Ponda MGP candidate Lavu Mmlatdar, MGP Chief and Priol candidate Pandurang Dhavlikar alias Deepak, Marcaim MGP candidate Ramakrishna Dhavlikar alias Sudin and BJP Shiroda candidate Mahadev Naik also spoke on the occasion.
Others who addressed the gathering included BJP leader Vishnu Wagh, Gajanand Naik, Ganesh Naik, Rajesh Verekar, Venkatesh Naik and others.
BJP not against English: Parrikar
