MARGAO: Continuing his tirade against the BJP, BBSM convenor Subhash Velingkar charged the party of being worse than the Congress and having gone ahead of the Congress in destroying Indian culture by not stopping grants to English medium primary schools.
Velingkar also criticised the BJP for its stand in favour of dual citizenship and that it was another manner in which the BJP had let the people down in not protecting Indian culture for electoral gains
Addressing a meeting of women in Margao, Velingkar announced that that he would reveal his political plans with greater detail on October 2.
Convinced that the views of the women would galvanise and achieve the group’s intentions for the elections, Velingkar also demanded that they give an assurance to protect the mother tongue and Indian culture. In a symbolic gesture, all the women tied a wrist and vowed to protect their mother tongue from the ‘threat’ of English.
He also announced that BBSM would organise two conventions for women in both the districts — the first one at Mapusa on November 6, the second at Verna on November 13.
BBSM said it expects more than 5,000 women to be involved in both the conventions — a part of their strategy to defeat the BJP in the next elections.
