BJP plans membership drive in Canacona

CANACONA: In a drive to be held between July 6 and 14, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has set a target to enroll 15,000 new members from Canacona constituency.
The party is training local members to undertake this mammoth task.
Buoyed by the sizeable lead in Canacona constituency in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the local as well as State party leaders held a meeting to discuss the strategy to enroll new members at Shristal this week. 
Canacona has close to 35,000 voters.
 spread across six talukas and lone municipality out of whom there is sizeable number who are BJP sympathizers and voters but not registered as BJP members.
Present at the meeting where BJP State organising secretary Satish Dhond, former minister and state vice president Ramesh Tawadkar, former Canacona MLA Vijay Pai khot, secretary Sadanand Shet Tanawade, former south Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, South Goa president Sarvanand Bhagat, sarpanch of Shristal village panchayat Devendra Naik, office bearers Mahesh Naik, Pankaj Naik Gaunkar, Suraj Naik Gaunkar, councilors and panch members of the 6 panchayats in Canacona constituency. 
Speakers during the meet guided the Canacona taluka level and booth level office bearers to how to go about the drive and reach out and recruit new members sources said.
