PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar on Thursday said that those speaking against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the government are being targeted across the State.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress House, here, Patkar said, “There are many examples not only in Sankhali, but across the State, where if someone is speaking against the BJP government he is being targeted. If the family members of the opponents are government servants then they are harassed and transferred to far off places. The BJP government does not want any opposition as they can do whatever they want.”

“When Goa had Congress government, we did only what the people of Goa wanted. There was no pressure on the people during our tenure,” he added.
Patkar said that be it drugs, prostitution or crime cases, they have increased under the BJP rule. Announcing ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ yatra from Mandrem from March 4, Patkar said that it is an attempt to reach out to people who are already suffering from inflation, unemployment, and price rise.
“We will present a chargesheet against the BJP government that has failed in almost all its promises. The main intention of this yatra is to take the message of Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ to every household in the country.
During month-long ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ yatra, Congress workers would meet every family to explain how it was deceived by the Modi and Sawant governments.
