PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) backed corporators will hold a march on April 28 protesting the hike in parking fees which the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has proposed.
Addressing the media, opposition corporator from the BJP group, Menino D’Cruz, said CCP should immediately roll back the rates fixed for the pay parking in the State’s capital.
Stating it is a huge burden for the general public visiting Panjim as well as the residents of the city, D’Cruz said the ruling panel is trying to generate revenue from the same.
“Pay parking should not be a source of revenue but a measure to impart discipline in the traffic system in the city,” D’Cruz said.
He said the two opposition members in the standing committee had objected to the proposal of increasing the parking fees but the ruling panel members, without considering this demand, passed the resolution.
 at the committee meeting.
D’Cruz said that on April 28, they would object to this and at the same time a protest march would also be organised where concerned residents and businessmen from Panjim would participate.
