PANJIM: While BJP has not announced its second list of candidates to contest the March 3 Goa assembly polls, it has finalized candidates for five constituencies. On February 5, BJP had declared names of 22 candidates while eight seats were left to its alliance partner, the MGP.

BJP sources said its central committee has cleared names for Tivim ( Kiran Kandolkar), Curchorem (Nilesh Cabral), Bicholim (Naresh Sawal), Savordem (Deepak Pawaskar) and Margao (Rupesh Mahatme).

When contacted BJP State President Laxmikant Parsekar said the remaining names would be announced in a day or two, immediately after they are approved by its election committee.

BJP also succeeded in sorting out the problem faced over candidature of Govind Parvatkar for Porvorim seat.

A three time sarpanch of Sucorro Mahanand Asnodkar led by party workers had submitted a memorandum to the party demanding that they should replace Parvatkar.

BJP State President however said the issue has been settled, and their Porvorim candidate is Parvatkar.

The party had a two hour long meeting at the party office Tuesday night to deliberate on the issue.

Former Tivim MLA Sadanand Tanavade along 22 odd supporters met Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday after he got indications that he would not be given a ticket.
