CANACONA: Canacona police has identified the unidentified body recovered at Colomb beach on Monday as that of a youth from Salvador-do-Mundo in Bardez.
According to Canacona PI Harischandra Madkaikar, the body of one Kith Pinto (24) was sent for an autopsy, where it was confirmed that the youth had died due to drowning, and was later handed over to the family for final rites. According to police sources, a motorcycle allegedly belonging to Pinto was found abandoned at Palolem and some of his clothes were also recovered from the site.
It is suspected that the deceased had drowned while swimming at Palolem beach and the body had been washed ashore at Colomb shore. PI Madkaikar has said further investigations are still underway.
It may be recalled that Canacona police found body of Kith Pinto on Monday. However, they could not ascertain his identity to inform his relatives immediately, as nothing was found on his body from which he could be identified.
