Body of artist’s gardener handed over to family

MAPUSA: The body of the gardener of Artist Shireen Mody was handed over to his family for performing the last rites on Tuesday.
A senior police officer from Anjuna Police station told Herald that the viscera of the gardener have been preserved for post mortem toxicological analysis.
“There have been no injuries found on the body of the gardener but they have preserved his viscera. The body has been handed over to the family for the last rites,” he said.
Gardener Prafulla, who hailed from Assam, tried to run away from the scene of the crime after hitting Shireen with a rod on the back of her head. He was found fallen on the road few meters away from the house at Arpora after escaping by climbing over the fence. He later succumbed to his injuries caused by the fall after being taken to the Mapusa district hospital in an ambulance where he was declared dead on arrival.
During investigation it came to light that the gardener was an alcoholic and was often scolded by Mody over his poor work.
