Body of man suspected to have killed wife found

PANJIM: The body of Mohan Mehta, who is suspected of killing his wife last week, has been fished out from river Mandovi in Panjim.

Panjim Police Inspector Siddhant Shirodkar said body has been identified and a suicide note has also been found on the body.
Last week, 62-year-old Chandrakala Mehta is suspected to have ended her life by jumping from the bathroom window of her flat on the first floor of an apartment building in Navelim.
Police suspect a brutal assault on the woman, allegedly by her husband Mohan (71), before the incident. Police, who had registered a case of murder, were looking out for Mohan since then.
According to Police, he was a prime suspect of killing his wife, as when they entered the flat, the kitchen, bedroom, storeroom, the TV in the main hall and prayer room had been destroyed. Police have found a blood-stained cloth on the floor and blood stains, providing hints of murder or an assault provoking suicide.
