VASCO: In a suspicious case, the Vasco railway police found the body of a 21-year-old Belgaum native lying in between the railway tracks near BRO in Shantinagar, Vasco, on Friday morning.
According to the police, the victim, identified as one Laxman Borimarad, had come down to Goa by Air India Flight from Dubai on Friday morning and within one hour of his arrival his body was found 500 meters away from the airport on the railway track.
“After we received the call of a body seen lying in between the railway tracks, we rushed to the site and found that the deceased person had sustained deep cut injury on the head. We also found a passport from his pocket and his passport was having immigration stamp of Friday,” said PSI Sushant Sangodkar.
He further informed that, “From his passport, we found that he had gone to Dubai in the month of May and had returned to Goa on Friday. We even tried to find out other details including his arrival details at the Dabolim airport and whom he met after arrival. We even checked the CCTV footage, but we found nothing suspicious, as after arrival and till he came out of the airport at about 5.30 am, he did not meet anyone.”
However, his backpack bag as well as his cell phone was traced near the cafeteria outside the arrival gate of Dabolim airport.”
Police are confused with the case as there is no clarity as to whether the death is suicide, or murder. Police have presently registered the case as unnatural death and further investigation is in progress.
