MARGAO: Victims of burglaries and residents of Marlem, Borda have demanded intense police patrolling around the area, stressing on the need for more personnel.
The residents had earlier written to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday through a Borda-based NGO, UGWF. The memorandum said that Marlem in Fatorda constituency had seen house-breaking cases in two separate flats just within a distance of about 80 to 100 meters on the nights June 29 and 30.
Residents said the Margao Town Police which catered to areas like Margao, Fatorda, Navelim, Mungul, Sirlim, Gogol Housing Board had failed to patrol at night due to acute shortage of staff.
The residents have also asked people to remain alert and inform police about such suspicious incidents in their neighbourhood.
