PORVORIM: The issues of Pilerne-Marra boundary and frequent disruptions in power supply dominated the Pilerne Marra gram sabha on Sunday.
Initiating the discussion on Pilerne-Marra boundary, Peter Fernandes stated that the Deputy Director of Panchayat has passed an order stating that Survey Nos 65, 67, 71 to 84, 90, 92 and 93 of Marra village have been included in Candolim Panchayat and the order was sent to Pilerne-Marra Panchayat on May 23, 2012.
“However, the Pilerne-Marra Panchayat challenged the order on May 10, 2013. As per rules, the order has to be challenged 3 months,” said Fernandes and sought to know the reasons for the delay in challenging the order.
Paul Fernandes brought to the notice of the panchayat that though the matter is sub-judice, the Town and Country Planning Department clears building proposals and Candolim Panchayat continues to issue licences for the constructions in the areas. “The panchayat should move High Court and bring stay order on such constructions immediately,” he demanded.
Tourism Minister and Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar, who was present for the gram sabha, said the panchayat is very serious about the boundary issue.
“I have discussed the matter with the panchayat minister and the Director of Panchayat. I’m very serious about this matter and will leave no stone unturned to bring a stay on constructions in the said survey numbers and bring back the areas in Pilerne Panchayat,” assured Parulekar.
The villagers complained that power supply in Pilerne is very erratic and due to frequent disruptions in power supply, the villagers face a lot of inconvenience. Adv Yatin Naik suggested that the panchayat should go in for mobile transformers.
Parulekar said power supply is erratic due to faults in the joints of underground cable laid during the previous government. “The government proposes to set up additional sub station at Bastora to cater to the requirement of Saligao constituency,” he said.
Parulekar further informed that the road from Verem Mansher to Saligao Seminary will be widened and beautified with ornamental lamps spending Rs 8 crore. “Similarly, subway at PDA will be constructed by spending Rs 2 crore to ease traffic congestion,” added Parulekar.
