Burglars strike rich at Vasco again

After breaking into a residential complex barely a day ago, burglars continued to torment the port town when they broke into two shops on Friday night.
Cash and mobile phones worth Rs 1.6 lakh were stolen from two commercial establishments in Vasco, while property worth nearly Rs 1.3 lakh was damaged on Friday night.
In the first incident, burglars entered a ship repair office near MPT Institute hall, barely 200 metres from the Vasco police station.
They ransacked the entire office and damaged the safe locker, two cupboards, drawers and door, before decamping with cash of Rs 65,000.
The proprietor, Shaikh Ashraf, mentioned that property worth nearly Rs 1.3 lakh was damaged in the office.
In the second incident, burglars broke into the office of a private mobile service provider and stole cash of Rs 86,000 and three mobile phones worth about Rs 8,500.
The proprietor, Shamshundar Nayak, informed that burglars had ransacked his office as well.
Burglars also damaged the shutter of a shop located at Rose Mathias Chamber building alongside the F L Gomes Road in the heart of the town.
Vasco police pressed a police dog squad and fingerprint experts into service, but were unable to obtain further clues into the two burglaries. Investigations are in progress.
