MARGAO: A bus pull out bay or bus bay, traffic signals at Arlem and Damodar Temple junction were commissioned by Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai, on Friday.
This bus bay is a special geometric roadway feature that allows transit buses to stop outside the travel lanes simultaneously facilitating traffic flow whilst patrons alight and board the stopped bus. We For Fatorda, Vijai Sardesai’s charity foundation commissioned a bus bay near Damodar Temple at Fatorda to be made operational from August 15, India’s Independence Day.
Vijai after inaugurating the facilities said, “Fatorda’s Ravindra Bhavan to Arlem Road is a symbol of modernity and a manifestation of development by consent. Fatorda is a unique model of the voluntary citizens’ participation in the development.”
“This road is the only operational modern road in Fatorda and Goa which is a smart road with dedicated ducts for water, electricity, sewerage and fibre optic cables,” he informed while saying that since the government put a spoke in the plan of naming this road in name of former Chief Minister Late Manohar Parrikar, now the road can be called Forward Avenue or Fatorda Forward Avenue.
The traffic signals at Fatorda Junction and Arlem were also inaugurated and will be made operational from August 15. With COVID cases touching 10,000 and fatalities rising, Vijai said, “Goa has become unsafe due to the directionless government which had failed to manage the pandemic in the State.”
“In Fatorda, the locals needing to avail COVID Centre facilities were shifted to distant places when the constituency had cooperated with the administration in all aspects during the pandemic without obstructing or opposing any COVID care facilities set up in the constituency,” he said.
“For this reason ‘We For Fatorda’ in association with our fellow Fatordekar Dr Milind Dessai and his Dessai Medical Research Centre is setting up a COVID counselling and support service facility via a collaborated helpline for positive patients to give proper guidance and care to fight the infection,” announced Vijai.
