PANJIM: In a scathing attack on his own colleagues, BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral, alleged on the floor of the House that certain elements and few MLAs within the government are trying to mislead people on communal disharmony.
Participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Cabral said that at the time the BJP came to power, apprehensions and misconceptions were created that the saffron party will create communal disharmony in the State. “But in the last four years of governance, there has been no single incident of communal disharmony reported here,” the MLA said.
“However, it is unfortunate, that certain elements and few MLAs within government are trying to misguide people on the issue,” Cabral said. The legislator said that the “State is very much in communal harmony”.
Supporting the Governor’s address to the State Assembly, Cabral said the BJP government under Laxmikant Parsekar’s leadership is moving in the right direction. “Yes, I admit, there are certain flaws….we will overcome it soon,” he added.
The opposition benches, including Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane, MLA Digmabar Kamat and Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai, moved 50 amendments to the Governor’s address.
