Cabral urges truckers to start transportation of ore

Assures to get the rate hiked once ore rates increase

CURCHOREM: Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral has appealed the truck owners to keep their faith in him and start ore transportation and that it is his responsibility to get the rate increased as demanded by them.
Cabral made the appeal during his interaction with the media after the public hearing on environmental clearance for the proposed solid waste management facility at Cacora.
“The is no other industry in this area other than mining industry and if the companies decide to lock out their units, then, not only truckers will suffer but others like company workers and other dependents too will suffer; even the State will suffer as it will lose income in form of royalty, Cabral said and promised that he would fight for rate hike.
Pointing out that the rates have not remained stagnant, he said earlier the companies were paying Rs 9.50 per kilometer for transportation of ore from Codli mine to Amona jetty and now it has been increased to Rs 11.50. “I know it is not sufficient but, I assure that I will fight to give the increased rate,” he said.
