MARGAO: Pledging full support to the agitation of tourist taxi operators, Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva asserted that the government should not permit Ola taxi service in the state, warning that he would join the tourist taxi operators in stopping the new taxi players in Salcete.
Caitu, who attended the meeting of the South Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association at the Dando grounds, Benaulim, told the beleaguered tourist taxi operators that he would stand by them till the very last. “Though I am part of the ruling government, my body and soul lies with the tourist taxi operators. The government cannot permit Ola and other new players in the taxi trade at the cost of our local Goan boys earning a living from the taxi trade”, he told the media, while urging Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to work out a solution to the issue at the earliest.
He said there will be peace in the state only if the government stops these new taxi operators from plying in the state, while offering his support to the “just and genuine” cause of the tourist taxi operators. The Benaulim MLA faced a barrage of questions from the agitated tourist taxi operators.
