CAMORLIM: The Camorlim gram sabha resolved that Health officer in the local Health centre should inspect the fish, fruits and vegetables that enter the local market. Discussing the issue of Formalin contamination in fish, Gram sabha demanded export and import of fish banned so that Goans gets fish caught by Goan fishermen.
The gram sabha also resolved that no building more than two floors must be allowed in the village and that the Building Regulations have to be amended accordingly. Speaking to Herald, the Sarpanch Basil Dias stated that his village was marked as VP 3 in the Regional Plan. However, the Panchayat is unable to stop mega projects even after rejecting the application for constructing these projects. He claimed that the builders use the Goa Building Regulations 2010 and file an appeal before the Deputy Director of Panchayat, who grants them the permission to construct the project. “We have resolved to ask the TCP Department and MLA to discuss this issue in the Assembly and amend the Goa Building Regulations”
Panch member Ashwinkumar Naik informed that the village will not be able to handle multi-floor buildings and mega projects since there is no provision for additional electricity supply and water to the village. “There is also a garbage problem since there is no local garbage plant. The government should identify a place for a garbage plant for the villages in the area,” he said
The Panchayat has also resolved to form a team to monitor and catch people who throw garbage along the roads. They ended the proceedings by felicitating meritorious students from the village.
