MARGAO: Strom against the Bhumiputra Adhikarni Bill is getting stronger and stronger in the Salcete taluka as well, as Camurlim panchayat has called a special gram sabha to oppose the Bill.
Basilio Fernandes, Sarpanch of Camurlim informed to Herald that the said gram sabha will be held on August 15. “People of Carmulim has demanded a special gram sabha in order to oppose the Bhumiputra Bill passed by the government in the recently concluded Assembly session and that too without the deliberation”, he said.
He further said the panchayat will stand by the decision of the people. Reportedly, a few days before Chinchinim villagers had also demanded gram sabha to discuss the same.
Now, Neves Rebello, president of Chinchinim Citizens Forum also demanded the withdrawal of the Bhumiputra Adhikarni Bill at the earliest.
“It appears that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho is on the forefront to cause problems to Goans, the Goenkar, and sons of the soil”, he alleged.
He also urged the Comunidades of Goa to get together and strongly oppose this farce.
