MARGAO: The Camurlim gram sabha held under chairmanship of Sarpanch Siddhi S Naik on Sunday has adopted resolution to desilt a nullah at Uzro before the Ganesh immersion so that the locals should not face inconvenience.
Luis Roman demanded that the panchayat stop supplying material for repairs of street light in village to electricity department pointing that government has been collecting the charges for the same in the bills of consumers. After discussion, the gram sabha took resolution directing the panchayat body to stop supplying the material.
At the meeting, villagers raised the issue over the failure of the authorities to attend to road cutting carried out during the laying of underground cabling in the village which has been causing great hardships to vehicle owners in particular. Sarpanch Naik informed the gram sabha that the panchayat had already written to the electricity department and that the department has promised that the same shall be attended to by November. Members of gram sabha were also informed that government has sanction funds for roads which the sarpanch stated shall commence after the monsoon season.
A resolution was also taken congratulating Rev Fr Mascarenhas who has been appointed auxiliary bishop.
