Canacona Farmers Allege Raw Sewage Discharge From Resort Into Paddy Fields

Farmers in Devbag, Canacona, have raised concerns over alleged sewage discharge from a resort into adjoining paddy fields. They also claim permanent structures and a swimming pool have been constructed on agricultural land.

Farmers say the alleged discharge has affected cultivation, preventing them from accessing their fields and impacting their earnings.

A Goa State Pollution Control Board inspection found a provision to pump water from a collection tank into the adjoining paddy field through a hole in the compound wall.

Though no discharge was witnessed during the inspection, water was found in the field beyond the boundary. Farmers have demanded immediate action and an inquiry into the alleged violations.
