CANACONA: Canacona police are on the look out for an accused who is at large after allegedly raping a minor girl. The heinous incident was reported a fortnight ago and cops are yet to establish the confession of the victim.
Speaking to reporters on Friday at Margao, South Goa Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant revealed that the case was registered and stated that the victim was not cooperating with the police and the NGO.
“We have confiscated the cellphone used by the victim to establish the link of the accused and the investigation is in progress. Once the links are established, we will arrest him,” the SP said.
Canacona DySP Tikam Singh Varma stated that three suspects have been interrogated based on the decoding of the cellphones. “We are analyzing the information at this point and cannot not reveal further as the case is of very sensitive nature,” Varma said.
The case of rape came to light when the victim was taken for medical by her parents at the Government hospital.
